A cancer cervical colposcopy is performed to biopsy tissue for further testing, however; vulvar vestibulitis is not determined through a a colpo. nor is cryosurgery the method of treatment.
That is whey they schedule a follow up exam to view the cervix more closely. When ever a Pap smear comes back with an abnormal reading, the first thing that doctors want to know is if cancerous cells have also developed or is there are just squamous cells present.

The cell samples are then further examined in a lab for the level of squamous cells present and if any cancerous cells exist. This exam involves the doctor inspecting the cervix using a colposcope for abnormal areas and then taking cells samples of those areas.
