A LEEP, or loop electocautery excision procedure, is where a loop is used to scrape the area where the abnormal cells were found. If considering a procedure to remove abnormal cells of the cervix, or carcinomas, you should be aware of what the surgeries entail.

80% of tests come back positive for HPV. This is when a colposcopy is used to see the affected area and then a biopsy of the area is taken and tested for its cause or origin. Another surgical procedure used in removal is called an ECC (endocervical curettage).
