Cervical Cancer Chemotherapy
In cases of severe cervical cancer, chemotherapy may be used, but usually not in the case of lichen sclerosus, or vulvar vestibulitis.
Three different drugs are used in the procedure: cisplatin, hydroxyurea, and 5-fluorouracil (5-flu). Recent studies show the reduced risk of deaths by 30% to 50%. Together with radiation therapy this procedure is used for treatment of invasive malignant tissues.
In cases of severe cervical cancer, chemotherapy may be used, but usually not in the case of lichen sclerosus, or vulvar vestibulitis.

In general, these adverse effects were temporary and manageable. These were more frequent and more severe in the women who had the combined therapy than in those who had radiation alone. The severe side effects were leukopenia (low number of white blood cells) and nausea and vomiting. In cases of severe cervical cancer, chemotherapy may be used, but usually not in the case of lichen sclerosus, or vulvar vestibulitis.
