Changing behaviors are vital to reducing cervical cancer mortality, and morbidity related vaginitis or vaginosis.
For tumor limited to the cervix and uterus the 5 years survival rates are: 80-85%; when the upper part of the vagina is involved the rate is 60-80%; for tumors beyond the cervix, but still in the pelvis it's 30-50%; and when the tumor has spread beyond the pelvis the rate is 14%.

To reduce the chances of getting the disease women should take the following measures: avoid sexual activity before 18 years old, avoid promiscuous partners or use condoms, and discontinue any tobacco use. Pelvic examinations, including PAP smear should be taken regularly. Changing behaviors are vital to reducing cervical cancer mortality, and morbidity related vaginitis or vaginosis.
