Screening For Cervical Cancer
Screening for cervical cancer is vital to reduce risk as is removing any condyloma or genital wart.
After the age of 30 a combination Pap smear and HPV test should be performed. Approximately 34% of women achieve immunity to abnormal cells of the cervix within 9-18 months. Once this immunity is achieved, then they cannot be reinfected, nor transmit this particular strain. However since they carry the virus, they are still susceptible to other strains.

Testing for atypical cells of the cervix is done through a routine Pap smear. It is important to have your annual exam to detect early symptoms of future cancerous tissue or cells. Early detection is key. When atypical cells turn to malignant tumors, treatment will be very complicated.
