Loop Cone Biopsy
Severe cases of cervical dysplasia treated with loop cone biopsy can lead to a future miscarriage, so the patient should have a repeated pap smear after the procedure to make sure the abnormality is removed.
This procedure may be done during the initial colposcopy exam. It can treat and diagnose at the same time, often replacing cone biopsy. A short description for "LLETZ" or "LEEP," is "the procedure for removing abnormal areas of the cervix for examination."
