Cryosurgery and cryotherapy are used to treat HPV. The cervix should then heal with new and healthy cells in about 2-4 weeks after the procedure. This treatment is performed by a gynecologist right in the doctor’s office and has few risks involved with it. Sometime it is also used to treat inflammation of the cervix and cervicitis. This procedure is also called cryotherapy, and is used as a treatment for mild cervical dysplasia, which is abnormal cellular changes. This procedure involves freezing the tip of the cervix so that the abnormal cells will be sloughed off and expelled from the body. Cryosurgery and cryotherapy are used to treat HPV.
